CASE STUDY: Colour, Comfort and a Shared Rhythm at SSF Ingenieure’s Berlin Office

Sometimes an office does not need more space, but new ways of using the space it already has.

For the Berlin workplace of SSF Ingenieure, de Winder Architekten introduced a series of lounge, meeting and dining areas designed for the moments between focused work: informal conversations, shared breaks and spontaneous exchange.

Soft forms, acoustic textiles and a confident palette of lime, beetroot and red bring warmth and ease into the structured office environment. The refurbishment was carried out while the office remained fully operational.

As the Furniture Supply Partner, Studio Pollina coordinated the specified loose furniture through to delivery and installation.

Creating Space Without Adding Walls

The interior concept by de Winder Architekten defines new functions through furniture and textiles rather than additional rigid divisions.

Acoustic curtains provide separation where needed, while the different furniture settings establish a natural rhythm between open collaboration, informal meetings and quieter moments. Lime, beetroot and red give each area its own character and make the new spaces immediately recognisable within the office.

The result feels intuitive and relaxed: a considered contrast to the precision-driven context of an engineering company.

A Collaboration with an Established Rhythm

What made this project particularly enjoyable was the quality of the collaboration behind it.

Studio Pollina and de Winder Architekten have worked together across a number of projects. Over time, this has created a shared understanding of responsibilities, priorities and the level of detail expected. The requirements still change with every client, but the framework is already there: communication is direct, open questions are identified early and decisions can be made without unnecessary rounds.

The team at SSF Ingenieure was equally open and collaborative throughout the project. This was especially valuable during a refurbishment in an operational office, where access, timing and individual project stages had to remain flexible.

Good collaboration does not remove the complexity of a project. It makes that complexity easier to manage and leaves more space for the pleasure of creating something together.

The Precision Behind the Ease

Our scope focused on the loose furniture specified by de Winder Architekten. Studio Pollina coordinated the package across multiple manufacturers, verified modular configurations and upholstery options, organised product and fabric samples, and aligned quotations, lead times and orders.

Where a proposed configuration required adjustment, we clarified the possibilities directly with the manufacturer and returned with a technically feasible option consistent with the architectural concept.

This allowed the process to remain focused and fluid, with the architects involved where their design input was relevant and the operational coordination managed by Studio Pollina.

Installed Around the Working Day

Delivery and installation were integrated into the wider refurbishment schedule while the SSF Ingenieure office remained in use.

Together with our established assembly team, we coordinated the delivery sequence, installation, interfaces with the other trades, packaging removal and final handover. The client’s flexibility and the close coordination between everyone involved allowed the work to move forward smoothly and with minimal disruption to the daily office routine.

The completed areas now form a distinct yet integrated part of the workplace: expressive in colour, comfortable in use and open to different forms of interaction.

She designed the entire space herself, furnishing her practice without professional interior design support and carefully selecting pieces from our collection at Studio Pollina. Her experience is a great example of how a personal vision, combined with thoughtful design, can shape both the therapeutic environment and the everyday experience of running a practice. Creating the Foundation for a “Safe Space” Therapy requires an immense degree of vulnerability from patients. When a space feels unwelcoming, or when seating is rigid or uncomfortable, these physical sensations can create unconscious barriers. A well-designed practice should remove as much friction as possible, allowing patients to focus on themselves and their therapeutic process rather than on their surroundings. Studio Pollina: What challenges did you face in your practice before making these changes? Dr. Hannah Adenauer: “I opened a new psychotherapy practice and wanted to create an atmosphere that felt calm, welcoming, and functional from the very beginning, without compromising on quality or design.” Establishing this intention from the outset is key. A harmonious interior, complemented by calming elements such as natural greenery and soft lighting, can help create a sense of ease and communicate a simple message to the patient: You are safe here, and your wellbeing matters. Comfort That Supports Better Therapy Creating this sense of comfort begins with choosing the right physical touchpoints. Studio Pollina: What made you choose Studio Pollina and our furniture solutions? Dr. Hannah Adenauer: “I chose Studio Pollina’s furniture, particularly the 366 Concept collection. I was convinced by the combination of high-quality, simple design and everyday functionality. The wooden armrests were especially important to me—they feel light and elegant, are easy to maintain, and are still very comfortable.” Studio Pollina: Were you able to integrate the new furniture into a cohesive interior? Dr. Hannah Adenauer: “As I was furnishing the practice from scratch, I was able to create a cohesive overall look from the beginning. The pieces work beautifully together, two armchairs, a sofa, two tables, a desk and a chair. Everything feels harmonious and considered.” The Ripple Effect: Wellbeing and Professional Success Patients are not the only ones who benefit from a thoughtfully designed environment. As a therapist, you spend countless hours in your practice, and your surroundings can influence your own energy, focus, and sense of wellbeing. When your environment supports you, that positive feeling can naturally become part of the experience you create for your patients. Studio Pollina: What changes have you noticed since redesigning the space? Dr. Hannah Adenauer: “I often receive positive feedback from patients about the interior. For me, too, the pleasant atmosphere is an important factor: it supports my work, although of course I would never say that furniture itself makes therapy better. Personally, however, the feeling of the space plays a very important role.” There is also a practical business dimension to this. When patients feel comfortable, respected, and cared for within their surroundings, it can contribute to a stronger overall experience of the practice. A thoughtfully designed environment can help build trust, encourage loyalty, and communicate the level of care and attention that defines the practice itself. A Respectful Environment for Growth Optimising the interior of a practice is ultimately an investment in the people who use it. And even when designing a space independently, personal and honest advice can make a meaningful difference. Studio Pollina: What was particularly important to you during the consultation process? Dr. Hannah Adenauer: “The telephone consultation was excellent - friendly, knowledgeable, and honest. It made me feel confident ordering the furniture online without seeing it in person first. I am completely satisfied with the result.” Studio Pollina: What would you recommend to colleagues who are considering improving their practice interiors? Dr. Hannah Adenauer: “I would definitely recommend taking your time when choosing furniture and getting good advice. Everyone has to decide what matters most to them. Personally, it was important to me to bring function and design together and create an environment that feels respectful and welcoming.” Transforming a clinical room into a thoughtfully designed space is about more than decoration. Bridging the Gap Between Imagination and Reality: Studio Pollina Teams Up with Sopla.app

Running a multi-brand company means managing an endless sea of brands, collections, colors, finishes, and custom configurations. For years, capturing all these possibilities required weeks of planning, costly visualizations, and budget-draining photoshoots. It was a slow process, but an absolutely necessary one. Why? Because as human beings, we are deeply visual creatures. Picture this: 10 brands, 20 pieces of furniture each, and every single piece available in up to 50 different finish combinations. It is impossible for a manufacturer to produce and photograph all of that, let alone for a dealer like us at Studio Pollina. Samples, 3D models, revisions, and then even more samples and models. In the past, fulfilling a request like that was a heavy logistical journey.  No matter how vividly we try to describe a piece of furniture or show a tiny fabric swatch, our clients' emotions only truly ignite when they see a realistic image in front of them. That visual spark is what turns "I’m not sure" into "I want that in my space." When a client can actually see the final result, their imagination kicks in, all doubts fade away, and the decision-making process becomes incredibly easy. We knew there had to be a smarter way to deliver that feeling. With Sopla.app, we shorten the distance. To celebrate this collaboration, we sat down with Maciej Mazur, the creator of Sopla to talk about their vision, the struggles of the furniture industry, and how their tool is changing the game sustainably, not by trying to replace the traditional work of a creative director, but by serving as a powerful tool in their hands. Artiko Seating Sytem by MDD Where did the name Sopla come from, and does it have a symbolic meaning in the context of what the app creates? "Sopla" means "blow!" in Spanish. It’s what people say when someone blows out birthday candles and makes a wish. But it is also a reference to a gust of wind that causes movement. Because that is exactly what we do: Sopla.app turns static furniture packshots into dynamic video materials in one simple action, almost like a puff of air. What problem did you notice on the market that became the impulse to create Sopla.app? The idea for the app came to me when I read in Forbes that 78% of people prefer to discover new products by watching short videos. In the world of shorts, stories, and TikToks, moving images have become the most engaging format. However, it has a fundamental flaw: it lives a very short life. Sometimes 24 hours, and sometimes only a few seconds, because a video about a piece of furniture has to compete for attention with a funny video of a dog (and I completely understand that the dog wins!). In the furniture and interior design industry, content production is very expensive and hard to scale. From conversations with Sopla users, we know that they need hundreds of photos and an increasing number of videos for online stores, marketplaces, and social media. AI technology allows us to shorten this process from weeks to minutes and has become a simple way to regularly create new content. Nimm Chair by Paged How did your personal career paths lead to the creation of this product? Content production has always been close to me professionally, as I have been running a graphic design studio for 20 years, which has prepared hundreds of advertising campaigns for leaders in their industries, including Panattoni, Sony Music, and Edyta Górniak. Łukasz, the co-founder of Sopla, has over 15 years of experience in quality management and operations. We decided that this is an exceptionally good combination of competencies. We understand that content not only has to look good, but that the product itself also has to work: it must be fast, simple, and effective. Both of us love design and well-designed objects. We also have friends in the industry who sparked our appreciation for furniture, so this choice was very natural for us. What distinguishes Sopla.app from other AI tools for creating photos and videos? AI is not a magic wand. If you want to get a piece of furniture in a good interior, you have to describe it precisely, meaning you have to create a prompt. You need to know how to do it and how to "talk" to specific AI models. You can learn this (and in my opinion, it's worth it!), but it takes time, and having the knowledge still doesn't free you from the tedious task of describing details. In Sopla, we designed the interiors for the user. We manually created several thousand records and are constantly creating new ones. What sets us apart is that creative decisions are made by humans rather than left to the machine. In Sopla, AI acts primarily as an execution engine.  It is like an advanced graphic program that creates a montage of our ideas. Litt Armchair by Balma Who did you create Sopla.app for, and what are the three biggest problems it helps solve today? Our users are primarily furniture manufacturers, large wholesalers, and online stores. But we also cooperate with creative agencies that serve furniture makers, and with interior designers who need to visualize furniture in specific rooms. Let me give you three real examples of problems we’ve solved: Faster Catalog Creation: The Danish brand Furnhouse completed their 2026 furniture catalog in a few weeks instead of months. When we received the printed 150-page copy, we knew our product worked. Cost-Effective Styling Variations: The Polish oak furniture manufacturer KEDA considered Sopla a "gamechanger" in the furniture industry. When designing a new website, they presented the same products in completely different interior styles: industrial, old-town, and modern premium. Some of their tables are 4 meters long, so staging photoshoots in several different interiors would be very expensive. Visualizing Non-Existent Variations: The Polish brand Flamingos regularly presents its furniture in new finishes and fabrics. They design fantastic textiles, and the material swap option means they can show customers products that don’t physically exist yet. Fox Armchair by 366 Concept Will AI replace traditional content creation tools, or rather become their natural extension? It depends on what we mean by traditional tools. If you are asking about traditional graphic and video editing software, I think that in a few years, artificial intelligence might replace them entirely because it will become the executor of commands given by a human or AI agents. Will it replace traditional photoshoots and video productions? I hope not. I think brands will continue to create materials in the traditional way, e.g., an annual advertising campaign, but because no one will want to watch it for 365 days a year, they will rely on tools like Sopla to support those efforts. There is no reason why photoshoots and fast content produced with the help of AI couldn't coexist. Naturally, almost everyone will use AI as a technological extension in the post-production of traditional shoots, because it is already a tool just like Photoshop, for example. Where do you think humans are still indispensable, even with the most advanced AI solutions? AI is excellent at handling repetitive tasks, but humans will still be needed to define aesthetics and make creative decisions. A human will remain indispensable wherever context, intuition, and a deep understanding of the brand are required. AI can generate dozens of great photo variants, but it doesn't know which one will be most consistent with the company's character and aspirations. Working with AI today is like a traditional photoshoot where dozens of pictures are taken. But ultimately, it’s the human who decides which ones are actually used. If a brand doesn't have access to its own designers or creative directors, it should consciously choose tools that are not merely simple generators, but behind which stand people, their ideas, and previously made decisions. Fox Armchair by 366 Concept What is your favorite Sopla.app feature and why? Adding people to the created photos. As a graphic designer, I perfectly understand the need to show a product aesthetically: a minimalist background, delicate contact shadows, a chair casually balanced on one leg. Great! I know that such things make an impression... but mainly on designers ;) Customers are much more likely to buy that chair when they can picture themselves in the scene. A family at breakfast, morning light shining into the dining room, and an everyday moment they would like to experience themselves. That’s when one of the most basic consumer emotions kicks in: "I want that too!".

We are back from Milano Design Week, letting the impressions settle. Every year, Milan brings a specific energy, and this time was no different. We are still in the process of integrating the many gathered experiences, but one thing is clear: it was a year that emphasized natural materials, multisensory approaches, and a stronger focus on the relationship between people, space, and design. Moving between Salone del Mobile, Alcova, and locations such as Rossana Orlandi Gallery, certain tendencies became apparent: less neon, more nature; more multisensory installations and a recurring question about how we inhabit our world. At Studio Pollina, we translate these insights into a curated selection of distinctive objects, carefully sourced to fit each project. Here are our highlights and the "Milano flair" we want to bring into your space. Pani Jurek – Expression and Identity Pani Jurek presented a refined collection of playful ceramic objects, where color, material, and form come together in a highly expressive yet balanced way. From lighting to mirrors, these are expressive tools for adding identity and a splash of color to a space.       Zieta Studio – Sculptural Reflection At Salone, Zieta Studio expanded its presence into lighting, showing how its signature blown metal surfaces interact with light. These iconic, mirrored forms are sculptural and simultaneously surprisingly light, adding a new layer of depth and atmosphere to any spatial context. Loope Furniture – Circularity and Innovation Loope remains firmly rooted in circular economy principles: quiet in form, but strong in attitude. The big news this year: a new collection developed in collaboration with Karim Rashid. It is a meeting of sustainability and contemporary design language with total clarity and intention. This design remains highly relevant and is a proud part of our current selection. We were also drawn to a more object-driven perspective that goes beyond function to add a strong artistic layer to a space: Mati Sipiora: Offered a speculative, almost otherworldly environment, at times evoking the sensation of landing on Mars. Szymon Keller: Created objects that move fluidly between art and function, encouraging a more intuitive and tactile interaction. Bring the Milano Feeling Home What remains from Milan is a feeling that translates into rooms. Whether through a circular approach to furniture or a sculptural mirror that changes the light in a hallway, these pieces are now available and can be integrated directly into your projects.
