Objects with character — colourful, hand-made, and always a little unexpected

Objects with character

Pani Jurek is the studio of Magda Jurek, an artist and designer whose work moves freely between craft and concept. Trained as a painter, she brings a distinctly artistic sensitivity to furniture and lighting, pieces that are expressive, playful, and deeply human. Each design begins with an idea rather than a product brief. Jurek explores how colour, form, and material can interact, how an object can surprise, invite touch, or change the mood of a space. Her creations often reference art, architecture, or the poetry of everyday life, while remaining functional and warm.

Production takes place on a small, artisanal scale. Every lamp and piece of furniture is made
locally in collaboration with skilled crafts people in ceramics, glass, wood, or brass, using traditional methods adapted to contemporary form. The process values individuality over repetition, and imperfection over polish.

Her collections, such as TRN, reinterpret artistic abstraction through material; others, like the Maria S.C. lamp, turn simple glass into a modular experiment in light and rhythm. Across all works, a strong sense of colour and composition reflects her painter’s eye, design that feels alive, not industrial.

Studio Pollina

Today, Pani Jurek stands as one of Poland’s most distinctive voices in contemporary design: thoughtful, bold, and independent. Her work bridges art and utility, reminding us that furniture and light can be more than objects; they can be gestures of expression and joy.
